My name is Miss Rachel… I have had the pleasure of teaching dance in the Lawrence, KS area for since 2012 and created my own studio, Sunflower State Dance in 2015. My greatest passion is teaching kids of all ages, especially preschool aged children! Creative movement is a fun and engaging way learning can be enhanced through moving. Creative movement has a positive impact on physical development, social skills, sensory awareness, and the mind and body connection. Classes take place at your child’s preschool or daycare location, during their normal school hours. No driving your child to and from class, they are already there and we come to them! See the Registration page for a list of participating schools. My child already takes dance class, why should they do this too? Dance classes are great for promoting positive self esteem, motor movement development, and logical skills all through learning specific styles of dance such as ballet, tap, or jazz. However creative movement does not focus on learning how to dance specific styles. Instead creative movement focuses in on moving throughout space while using different concepts to help promote everyday learning through guided exercises and play.
